Chennai: Actor Keerthy Suresh has voiced deep distress and concern over the escalating threat of artificial intelligence (AI) to personal privacy, revealing that morphed images of herself have been circulating on social media. Her experience stresses the growing crisis of deepfakes and AI image manipulation that is increasingly targeting public figures and the general public in India.

Speaking at a press conference in Chennai, Keerthy Suresh described the emotional toll of encountering the fabricated content.

"AI has become a huge issue. It has turned into a boon and a bane. Humans invented technology but we are losing control," Keerthy Suresh stated. "On social media, I get stunned seeing my picture in a suggestive outfit and I wonder if I ever wore it as it is that real."

The actor detailed a specific incident where a photograph of her outfit from a recent movie puja was altered.

"Recently, the outfit I wore for a movie puja was altered in a bad way, from a different angle. For a second, I was wondering, and then I realised that I didn't pose in such a way. It is definitely irritating. What are they gaining?" she questioned, noting that the content is deeply "hurting."

Her comments reflect the frightening realism achieved by current AI tools, making it nearly impossible to distinguish manipulated images from authentic ones. She stressed that this issue extends far beyond the film industry, posing a critical danger to privacy for everyone.

Keerthy Suresh is not the only actor who raised concern; numerous other leading Indian actresses have been targeted by AI-generated media in recent months.

Recent high-profile deepfake victims Include: Rashmika Mandanna, Katrina Kaif, Alia Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Sai Pallavi.
