‘Kattalan’ second look unveiled: Antony Varghese stands tall as teaser date and release locked

Following the success of Marco, Cubes Entertainments has released the second look poster of Kattalan, starring Antony Varghese, credited under his real name. The poster shows the actor standing in heavy rain with an axe, after a brutal confrontation with a wild elephant, signalling another intense and violent cinematic outing.

Directed by debutant Paul George, Kattalan has generated strong buzz since its first look, which hinted at a dark and shocking narrative. The film is mounted on a large technical scale and is positioned as a major visual spectacle in Malayalam cinema. Actress Dushara Vijayan plays the female lead, marking her continued expansion beyond Tamil cinema.

The film’s shoot began in Thailand, led by internationally recognised stunt choreographer Kecha Khamphakdee, known for Ong-Bak. Notably, Pong, the elephant made famous by Ong-Bak, is also part of the cast. Overseas distribution rights have been secured by Phars Films.

Kattalan features a wide ensemble cast including Sunil, Kabir Duhan Singh, Jagadish, Siddique, Anson Paul, Raj Tirandasu, Hanan Shaah, Baby Jean, Shon Joy, Parth Tiwari, Shibin S. Raghavan, Pranav Raj and Call Me Venom. The film began production with an elaborate pooja ceremony held in Kochi.

Action choreography is handled by Kecha Khamphakdee, whose credits include Baahubali 2, Jawan, Baaghi 2 and Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1. Music is composed by B. Ajaneesh Loknath, following his work on Kantara Chapter 2. Dialogues are written by Unni R., with editing by Shameer Muhammed. The technical team includes cinematographer Renadive, sound designer M.R. Rajakrishnan and production designer Sunil Das.

The teaser for Kattalan will be released on 16 January, ahead of its worldwide theatrical release scheduled for 14 May.
