The makers of Kattalan, the upcoming Malayalam action film starring Antony Varghese, have officially announced the movie’s worldwide release date as May 14. Along with the theatrical release confirmation, the team also revealed that the Kattalan action teaser will be launched on January 16, giving viewers the first look at the film.
Kattalan is produced by Cubes Entertainment, the banner behind the pan-India success of Marco, and is directed by debutant Paul George. The film has already generated buzz after its first-look poster went viral, with audiences curious about Antony Varghese’s next big-canvas project.
A major portion of the film was shot in Thailand, with internationally known action director Kecha Khamphakdee choreographing the stunts. The team has also worked with Pong, the elephant famous from ‘Ong-Bak’, adding to the film’s action-drama appeal.
Dushara Vijayan plays the female lead. The supporting cast includes Sunil, Kabir Duhan Singh, Jagadish, Siddique, Anson Paul, Raj Tirandasu, and others, making it one of the larger ensemble Malayalam releases this year. Phars Films has acquired the overseas distribution rights, signalling a wide international rollout.
The film’s music is composed by B. Ajaneesh Loknath, while Unni R. has penned the dialogues. Cinematography is by Renadive and editing by Shameer Muhammed.
With the Kattalan release date now confirmed, attention shifts to the January 16 teaser, which is expected to reveal the tone of this high-octane action thriller and set the stage for its summer box-office run.
