Returning to the role of ‘Senapathy’ in S. Shankar's ‘Indian 2’, Kamal Haasan is currently enjoying the success of his most recent big-budget film, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’, co starring with Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan. The film is scheduled for release on July 12.
Haasan gave an explanation for his decision to forego filming ‘Enthiran’ and to turn down Shankar's invitation to play Pakshi Rajan in ‘2.0’ in a recent interview with Pinkvilla. Kamal Haasan said, ‘The film industry is a complicated industry with so many complex business equations including my remuneration, my dates, my time and the market at that time. So I was not very keen to do it at that time. So I dropped it but my friend Shankar picked it up at the right time and made great success out of it. Anybody could pick it in time and benefit from it’.
The seasoned actor also explained why he declined the role of antagonist Pakshi Rajan in Rajinikanth's ‘2.0’. Kamal expressed to Shankar his desire to continue being a hero for a while longer. He's always talking about working with Rajinikanth on a movie. Later, in ‘2.0’, Akshay Kumar portrayed Pakshi Rajan.
'Kalki 2898 AD', which was released on Thursday, June 27th, made a remarkable debut in India, grossing Rs. 92 crore on its first day. Yaskin, the major antagonist and the dystopian world's "Supreme" leader, is portrayed by Kamal Haasan. The plot of 'Kalki 2898 AD' is an epic journey spanning millennia, beginning with the Mahabharata in 3101 BC and concluding in 2898 AD. There will be more of Kamal Haasan's ‘Yaskin’ in the sequel to this epic mythical science fiction film.
