Veteran actor Kamal Haasan hailed Mammootty after he won the Best Actor award at the 72nd National Film Awards for ‘Brahmayugam’, marking his fourth National Award.

Taking to his social media, Kamal addressed the actor as "Mammukka" and recalled an old promise between them. "You once promised me you would overtake me in the number of National Awards. As always, you are a man of your word! Here's to many more accolades, my friend," he wrote, celebrating Mammootty's latest milestone.

Beyond congratulating Mammootty, Kamal extended his wishes to all the winners of the 72nd National Film Awards. He gave a special shout-out to director Nag Ashwin, Vyjayanthi Movies, and the entire ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ team, writing, "Indian cinema is richer because of your excellence."

In a separate post, Kamal celebrated the success of ‘Amaran, congratulating director Rajkumar Periasamy on winning the National Award for Best Director. Calling it a "deeply deserved honour," he praised the filmmaker's clarity of vision. He also applauded GV Prakash Kumar for Best Background Music and Kalaivanan R for Best Editing, crediting their work for elevating the film.

Kamal reserved special praise for Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi, saying their performances as Major Mukund Varadarajan and Indhu transcended awards and would remain etched in Indian cinema history. He added that every honour earned by ‘Amaran’ further immortalises the courage and sacrifice of Major Mukund Varadarajan. Concluding his message, Kamal said the National Awards reaffirm Raaj Kamal Films International's 46-year commitment to authentic Indian storytelling that spreads joy and instils pride.
