Telugu actor Kiran Abbavaram has dismissed speculation that his romantic drama ‘Chennai Love Story’ would avoid a box-office clash with Vijay's final film, ‘Jana Nayagan’. Speaking at a promotional event on his birthday, the actor made it clear that the film would release as planned and that the team had no intention of postponing it.

Addressing questions about competing with one of the year's biggest releases, Kiran said, "Even if other films come in competition, we have strong faith in our content. There is no question of changing the date; we are coming on the same day."

Interestingly, Kiran's statement came just hours before the makers of ‘Jana Nayagan’ officially announced July 23 as the film's release date. At the time of his comments, ‘Chennai Love Story’ was already locked for a July 24 worldwide release, setting up a major box-office face-off over the same weekend.

Directed by Ravi Namburii, ‘Chennai Love Story’ stars Kiran Abbavaram alongside Sri Gouri Priya. The film is backed by the team behind the acclaimed films ‘Colour Photo’ and ‘Baby’, with Sai Rajesh providing the story and veteran composer Mani Sharma handling the music.

Producer SKN of Mass Movie Makers also brushed aside concerns about the clash from a distribution perspective. Since ‘Chennai Love Story’ is being distributed by Mythri Movie Makers and ‘Jana Nayagan’ by Dil Raju's Sri Venkateswara Creations (SVC), he expressed confidence that both films would receive adequate screens.

"I hope there will be no problems. I have worked with Dil Raju, and so has Sai Rajesh. There's no 'versus' because I believe they will allot us a good number of screens. By this time next week, I'll be thanking them for their assistance," SKN said.

The teaser of ‘Chennai Love Story’ hints at a story about first love, second chances and the lives of two Telugu youngsters trying to build careers and relationships in Chennai. Meanwhile, ‘Jana Nayagan’, which finally secured a July 23 release after months of legal and CBFC-related delays, is expected to be one of the biggest theatrical releases of the year.
