“The fact that Urvashi chechi was in it played a decisive role in me committing to the film,” Parvathy revealed.

Malayalam film Ullozhukku, directed by Christo Tomy and released in 2024, starring Urvashi and Parvathy Thiruvothu in lead roles, continues to receive rave reviews for its strong portrayal of human relationships and conflicts.
Among the accolades for the movie, the most recent and significant are the national awards for Best Malayalam Film and Best Supporting Actress for Urvashi—crowning glories for this emotional rollercoaster of a film.
Meanwhile, what has grabbed the attention of netizens of late has been the candid revelations by Parvathy Thiruvothu during her speech after receiving an award for her performance in Ullozhukku at the JFW Movie Awards.
“This is her world, and I feel we are just living in it...,” Parvathy said about Urvashi.
Talking further, Parvathy thanked Christo Tomy for making Ullozhukku. She noted how women often end up taking center stage in Christo’s work, thanking the filmmaker for being their voice.
“In the last few years, I have been asking constant questions. It is hard to be liked in an industry where you constantly ruffle feathers, trying to claim your rightful space,” Parvathy said after receiving the award.
The acclaimed actor expressed her gratitude for being part of Ullozhukku, stating that she feels the universe sometimes “conspires” to bring her such beautiful roles and films.
Reflecting on her experience working with Urvashi, Parvathy said:
“The fact that Urvashi chechi was in it played a decisive role in me committing to the film.”
In her speech, she spoke about the constant support she received from her senior colleague in pulling off the demanding and intense role of Anju.
While saying that Ullozhukku felt like a gift, Parvathy shared that the film made her feel more ‘relevant’ as an actor. Reflecting on her journey in the industry, she said:
“I am unapologetically occupying the space that I am in today.”
In a rather emotional speech, Parvathy also expressed her happiness about catching up with the likes of Keerthy Suresh, Amala Paul, and veteran actor Sheela at the event.
Briefly reflecting on the adversities faced by female artists in the industry, Parvathy acknowledged that things have slightly changed for the better over the last decade—from “constantly saying sorry” to now “saying thank you.” She once again stressed the importance of women having a voice in cinema.
