The makers of ‘Idhayam Murali’ have released the official trailer of the upcoming Tamil romantic drama ahead of its July 10 theatrical release, offering audiences a heartfelt glimpse into a story of unspoken love, friendship, and emotional growth.

The nearly three-minute trailer follows Atharvaa Murali as a young man who falls deeply in love with his classmate, played by Preity Mukundhan, but struggles to confess his feelings. As the narrative moves from his school and college years into adulthood, his silent love continues to shape his life, hinting at an emotional journey centered on one-sided love and missed opportunities.

One of the trailer's biggest highlights is Fahadh Faasil, whose character appears to play a pivotal role in Atharvaa's life. Rather than a conventional supporting character, Fahadh seems to guide and encourage the protagonist during crucial moments. His charming screen presence, along with humorous dialogues including a reference comparing a major twist to a Korean drama has quickly become one of the trailer's biggest talking points.

The trailer also showcases the chemistry between Atharvaa and Preity Mukundhan, while Kayadu Lohar appears in an important role. A lighthearted sequence featuring an in-car AI and the iconic song ‘Vennilave Vennilave’ adds a touch of humor, balancing the film's emotional core. Backed by vibrant visuals and a soothing background score by S Thaman, the trailer promises a feel-good coming-of-age romance rather than a conventional commercial entertainer.

Written, directed, and produced by debutant Aakash Baskaran under the Dawn Pictures banner, Idhayam Murali also stars Natty Subramaniam, Niharika NM, Rakshan, Dravid, Angeline, Pragya, Sudhakar, and Yashashree in key roles. Thaman also makes a supporting appearance in the film. Cinematography is handled by Manoj Paramahamsa and CH Sai, while Pradeep E Ragav serves as editor.

Adding an emotional layer, the title ‘Idhayam Murali’ pays tribute to the 1991 classic Idhayam, which starred Atharvaa's late father Murali. Atharvaa has clarified that while the title reflects the film's central theme of heartfelt love, it is not a remake or direct continuation of the original, though the trailer includes subtle nods to his father's legacy.

The trailer has received an overwhelmingly positive response on social media, with viewers praising its refreshing storytelling, emotional tone, performances, and Thaman's music. Many fans have also appreciated the meaningful roles given to both female leads, raising expectations for what could be one of this year's most charming romantic dramas.
