Actor Fahadh Faasil has opened up about a dream project he has long hoped to work on, a remake of a film starring Mohanlal in the lead role and released more than three decades ago.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Fahadh revealed that he has been trying to convince director, Amal Neerad, to remake the 1989 Malayalam cult classic movie ‘Season’, directed by Padmarajan. He further mentioned that he’s ready to produce the project himself if it ever materialises.

The actor, known for his strong collaborations with Amal Neerad (Iyobinte Pusthakam, Varathan), made the revelation while responding to a question about five films he believes are must-watch classics.

  • Mili (1975) – Directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee and starring Amitabh Bachchan.
  • Johnny (1980) – A Tamil film directed by Mahendran, featuring Rajinikanth in the lead.
  • Season (1989) – The Malayalam thriller by Padmarajan.
  • Malèna (2000) – An Italian film directed by Giuseppe Tornatore.
  • Il Postino: The Postman (1994) – Directed by Michael Radford, this Italian classic also made Fahadh’s list.

Earlier, Fahadh Faasil had shared that Thoovanathumbikal was one of the films that deeply inspired him. Directed also by Padmarajan and starring Mohanlal in the lead, the film is considered a timeless classic in Malayalam cinema.

Meanwhile, Fahadh will be next seen in 'Maareesan', directed by Sudeesh Shankar, and also starring Vadivelu in the lead role. Maareesan has triggered huge interest among fans and film buffs ever since the makers released a trailer some time ago.

The trailer gives away the fact that Fahadh plays a thief who is looking for his next victim. As fate would have it, he gets to meet Vadivelu, an Alzheimer's patient, who has a huge sum of money in his account. Vadivelu, who knows his memory is failing, decides he will go to a friend's place in Thiruvannamalai. Fahadh, seeing an opportunity to steal the money that Vadivelu has, offers to drop him there on his motorcycle. As the two begin to undertake the long journey, things change. What happens then is what the film is all about.

Apart from Fahadh Faasil and Vadivelu, the film will also feature a host of actors, including Vivek Prasanna, Renuka and Sithara, among others.

V Krishnamurthi has not only penned the story, screenplay and dialogues of this film but has also worked in it as its creative director.
