Samjad’s Malayalam film ‘Half’ has made history at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) by becoming the first Malayalam film to be screened in the festival’s Midnight Madness section.

The film had its world premiere on September 18, drawing an enthusiastic response from audiences. Produced by Anne Sajeev and Sajeev PK under the banner of Fragrant Nature Film Creations, ‘Half’ received particular attention for its action choreography, music and raw style of presentation.

Director Samjad, producers Anne Sajeev and Sajeev PK, lead actors Ranjith Sajeev and Aiswarya Raj, music composer Midhun Mukundan and sound designer Vishnu Govind participated in the Q&A session. The team discussed various aspects of the film, including its themes, making, visual presentation, music, sound design and performances.

Audiences also praised Pappinu’s cinematography, Mahesh Bhuvanend’s editing and Vishnu Govind’s sound design for contributing to the film’s atmosphere. The performances of Ranjith Sajeev and Aiswarya Raj in the lead roles were also highlighted during the interaction.

The action choreography by Very Tri Yulisman and the film’s music were among the elements that particularly caught the audience’s attention.

Written by Praveen Viswanath and Samjad, ‘Half’ is described as a vampire action thriller centred on two half-blood vampires. The film combines intense action with a dark atmosphere and aims to offer a distinctive cinematic experience.

The film’s theatrical distribution across North India is being handled jointly by Excel Entertainment and AA Films, while Best Friend Forever (BFF) has acquired its international sales rights.
