In Sargam, she appeared under the name Amrutha; later that same year (in 1992), she acted alongside Vineeth in another film titled Champakulam Thachan

Vijayawada was where Yeedi Vijayalakshmi was born and educated. Her first brush with performance came during a school event where she played the role of a goddess. Watching the programme by chance was acclaimed filmmaker Hariharan, who was so impressed by her presence that he cast her as the female lead in his film Sargam, opposite actor Vineeth.
In Sargam, she appeared under the name Amrutha, and was just 15 years old at the time. That same year, she acted alongside Vineeth again in Champakulam Thachan. From that point forward, there was no looking back.
Amrutha soon rebranded herself as Rambha, a name that would go on to become well-known across Indian cinema. She featured prominently in Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, and even Bollywood films, sharing screen space with some of the biggest stars of the time—including Mammootty, Salman Khan, Mithun Chakraborty, Rajinikanth, Chiranjeevi, Venkatesh, and Vijay.
Beyond acting, Rambha also ventured into film production, partnering with her brother. Their first project was Three Roses, in which Rambha starred alongside Jyothika and Laila. However, the film turned out to be a major financial setback. Having taken large loans to fund the project, its failure left Rambha unable to repay debts, which led to legal troubles. She eventually had to sell her house in Chennai, and the situation severely impacted her public image.
At the peak of her career, she took on several glamorous roles. Over time, the variety of characters offered to her diminished, reducing her chances of landing more diverse or substantial roles.
In the midst of this professional turmoil, Rambha married Indrakumar Pathmanathan, a businessman based in Canada. The couple later settled in Toronto. Ever since then, she has largely disappeared from cinema and has not taken on any major roles or headlined significant projects. She now and then appears as a judge on television reality shows. Rambha’s life is yet another example of the tumult faced in the entertainment industry.
