Kochi: B. Unnikrishnan, General Secretary of the Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA), has announced that an analytical report on the Hema Committee findings will be submitted to the government by the first week of September. This comes amid growing frustration among several members over the FEFKA General Secretary's silence regarding the report that exposed sexual harassment of female artists in the Malayalam film industry.
"FEFKA is holding the meetings of its affiliate unions, and we intend to conclude all these meetings by September 4 and 5. They will come out with their definite views and feedback on the Hema Committee report, which we will analyse, and we will prepare a detailed analytical report on the Hema Committee report and submit it to the government," he said.
This announcement comes amid reports of internal tensions within FEFKA following sexual abuse allegations in the Malayalam film industry. A faction led by director Aashiq Abu has reportedly begun efforts to persuade more prominent members to resign from FEFKA.
The group is also said to be reaching out to senior directors. It has been noted that some individuals opposing Unnikrishnan’s stance as FEFKA’s General Secretary are moving towards action.
FEFKA, an organisation representing film technicians, has already called for the names of those accused in the Hema Committee report to be made public. FEFKA has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting survivors of sexual harassment, pledging to approach the Special Investigation Team and pursue legal actions against the perpetrators.
