The Malayalam mystery thriller ‘Eko’, directed by Dinjith Ayyathan, is set to arrive on OTT after its successful theatrical run. The film’s OTT release gives viewers who missed its theatre release a chance to watch the critically praised thriller from home.

The film, written and shot by Bahul Ramesh, reunites the team behind last year’s Kishkindha Kaandam’’. Eko was noted for its atmospheric storytelling and strong performances, earning favourable reviews at the box office. 

When and where to watch

Netflix India announced the streaming date through a new Instagram post, sharing the film’s poster along with the caption, “There’s a lot of secrets hidden in the forests, will the answers be there too? Watch ‘Eko’ on Netflix, out 31st December, in Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada.”

The film will be available on the platform in five languages.

All about Eko

The story follows an elderly woman and her caretaker navigating long-buried secrets in the mist-covered hills of Kaattukunnu. Their lives become entangled with the search for Kuriyachan (Saurabh Sachdeva), an infamous dog breeder and fugitive whose past casts a long shadow. As strangers arrive in the mountains looking for him, characters Malaathi Chedathi and Peeyos uncover unsettling truths.

‘Eko’ serves as the concluding chapter in Dinjith Ayyathan’s Animal Trilogy, following ‘Kishkindha Kaandam’ and ‘Kerala Crime Files: Season 2’. The film features Biana Momin, Sim Zhi Fei, Vineeth, Ranjith Shekhar and Saheer Mohammed alongside Sandeep.

Mujeeb Majeed composed the music, while Sooraj ES handled the editing. The project is produced by MRK Jhayaram under Aaradyaa Studios.

The film was considered a box office winner and drew widespread acclaim for its screenplay, performances and its environmental theme centred on biodiversity preservation.
