New Delhi: On Monday, actors Dulquer Salmaan and Rana Daggubati revealed their new co-production, Kaantha, which will be directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, known for his work on The Hunt for Veerappan.
The multilingual film, featuring Dulquer, Bhagyashri Borse, and Samuthirakani Pillaiyar, will be produced by Rana Daggubati’s Spirit Media and Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films.
Kaantha is set against the backdrop of 1950s Madras and will explore complex human relationships and societal changes during a significant historical period.
The film's inaugural clap was given by Telugu star Venkatesh Daggubati at Rama Naidu Studios in Hyderabad.
Rana expressed his enthusiasm about collaborating with Wayfarer Films. "Their commitment to quality cinema aligns perfectly with our vision at Spirit Media. Kaantha is the ideal film to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Suresh Productions and mark the beginning of a new era with Spirit Media," the producer said in a statement.
Dulquer shared his excitement to work with Spirit Media on this new project. "This (Kaantha) is a beautifully layered story that captures the depths of human emotions and gives an actor a lot of scope to perform. I am thrilled to get started and bring this film to life," he added.
Selvamani Selvaraj, who has directed Nila and The Hunt for Veerappan, described the opportunity to work with such talented producers and creative teams as a privilege.
"With Kaantha, we aim to transport audiences to a bygone era, capturing its essence while telling a story that resonates with contemporary emotions," he added.
