Dulquer Salmaan’s much-anticipated period drama 'Kaantha 'has hit a major roadblock at the box office, slipping sharply after its promising opening weekend.

The film, which drew strong critical appreciation and healthy Saturday footfalls, has failed to maintain weekend momentum into the weekdays.

According to early estimates, 'Kaantha 'wrapped up its opening weekend with a domestic total of ₹17 crore, driven largely by Dulquer’s star power and the film’s nostalgic 1950s Madras setting. However, the numbers fizzled out soon after.

As per Sacnilk, the film managed to collect only ₹0.06 crore on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, signalling a sharp decline in theatre turnout.

On Tuesday, the Tamil version registered an overall occupancy of 14.94%, with notable fluctuations through the day:

  • Morning Shows: 11.99%
  • Afternoon Shows: 16.95%
  • Evening Shows: 13.94%
  • Night Shows: 16.89%

The drop indicates that the strong early buzz hasn’t translated into sustained mass appeal beyond the first weekend.
