In a shocking revelation, Director Alleppey Ashraf claimed that a prominent heroine in the Malayalam film industry was subjected to gang rape during the eighties in New York.
In a video posted on his YouTube channel, Ashraf claimed that a man named Tara Arts Vijayan, who used to organize events in and outside Kerala, finally managed to rescue the actress, who was trapped in a flat in New York. Ashraf pointed out that he is speaking openly now so that such incidents do not repeat again and the new generation learns a lesson.
"I was the first to bring the art form of mimicry to America in 1982. That day a small troupe including myself, baby Shalini and Rohini went to America and presented the program. It was a great success. It was sponsored by Tara Arts Vijayan. Vijayettan is the only living witness to the incident I am going to narrate here. She is an actress who has starred in Malayalam alongside Nazir sir and has acted in other language films as well. She is an actress who has many fans. I was her big fan," he said.
According to Ashraf, a phone call from America led the actress to join a film, which she believed was a legitimate opportunity. After arriving in the US, she was warmly welcomed and settled in an apartment. However, Ashraf claimed that two men in an inebriated condition arrived later at her flat and raped her.
Ashraf revealed that after being trapped in the flat for several days, the actress, somehow, managed to contact Tara Arts Vijayan by phone and share her ordeal.
"At that time, Vijayettan was working at a telephone exchange in New York and knew the area well, but he had difficulty locating the building. Vijayan asked her to open the window and describe what she could see. She pointed out nearby buildings, and he noted the signs. With this information, he was able to identify the location and told her, 'My car is here; come down immediately.' They quickly gathered their belongings and left the flat to get into Vijayan's car," Ashraf explained. He added that Vijayan ensured the actress left New York before the culprits returned and assisted her in booking a ticket for her.
