Content creator and actor Apoorva Mukhija, better known as Rebel Kid, has once again found herself at the centre of controversy. Weeks after the India’s Got Latent row and her rising popularity with ‘Nadaaniyan’ and ‘The Traitors’, the YouTube star is facing accusations from her former boyfriend, Utsav Dahiya, who claims she cheated on him. 

Utsav’s viral song

On Sunday, Utsav shared an original track on Instagram titled Cute Little Red Flag — a phrase Mukhija often uses in her storytime videos. Alongside the song, he posted a long note alleging that she misrepresented him following their breakup.

The song features sharp lyrics aimed at Mukhija, with Utsav warning her to “stop spreading lies” and suggesting he had “dodged a bullet” by ending their relationship. In one of the lines, he sings, “Pucha maine ghatiya kyun bola mujhe duniya ke liye, kehti baby yeh toh sab dhandha hai mere liye (I asked why you called me disgusting in front of the world, you said baby, this is all just business for me).”

In the caption, Utsav doubled down on his claims, writing, “Ab agar koi aur bakwaas kari toh main seedha receipts nikalunga (Now, if you talk nonsense again, I’ll bring out the receipts). Never try to gain sympathy by fabricating lies or pushing false narratives just to make content and assassinate someone’s character online. Having a big following doesn’t give you the right to bully your way by rage-baiting your audience and unleashing them on others.”

He added that he had earlier reached out to Mukhija and her agency when he was being accused of cheating and abuse because of her storytime videos, only to be dismissed. “Instead, I was told, ‘You’re a nobody, you should be happy you got to date her.’ So here’s a message from that nobody: you tried your level best (and I won’t lie, it wasn’t easy), but I’m still here, still standing. That should tell you something — your big numbers only matter on an app. There’s a real and much bigger world outside — beyond lies and drama. Truth doesn’t need ‘followers’; it stands on its own,” he wrote.

Concluding his post, Utsav remarked, “Toh tum chalao apna ghar kalesh se (So go ahead and get rich by peddling conflict), but stop spreading lies about others. Let people do some real work in their lives. Grow up, kid. (And here’s a rhyme for you — might be more your style… in case it helps).”

Past tensions

Mukhija and Utsav confirmed their split on January 31 last year. At the time, she addressed the breakup on her Instagram broadcast channel, posting: “Most of you all guessed it already, but Utsav and I are not together anymore. I can’t wait for the slut-shaming, gold-digging gossip threads on me now. But lesson learned, agla jiju reveal shaadi pe karungi ab (Will reveal the next jiju only at my wedding).”

Since then, Mukhija has shared content about a “toxic ex-boyfriend,” hinting at Utsav without naming him. In those videos, she accused him of being abusive and unfaithful, often referring to him as “ghatiya.” This sparked online backlash against Utsav, who now insists her narrative was fabricated for social media engagement.

In his song, Utsav also accused Mukhija of attempting to reconcile with him “for content” and of labelling him “ghatiya” purely to boost her following.

Despite the buzz surrounding his post, Mukhija has yet to publicly respond to Utsav’s claims.
