Malayalam cinema is stepping into the world of high-concept sci-fi with ‘Cyber’, an upcoming thriller directed by Manu Krishna.

A visually ambitious Malayalam film titled Cyber is set to push the boundaries of regional cinema, promising a production scale and narrative depth on par with Hollywood. The film, which explores the hidden layers of the digital universe, has already become a hot topic online after its striking first-look poster was released this week.
Directed by Manu Krishna, Cyber stars Chandhunadh, Prasant Murali, Jeeva Joseph and Cerena Ann Johnson in pivotal roles. The film is jointly bankrolled by GK Pillai and Santha G Pillai under the banners of KGlobal Films and Root Productions.
A sci-fi thriller rooted in the digital era
The first instalment, Cyber Part 1, follows the story of neuroscientist Dr Vikram Aryan and his creation of a groundbreaking device capable of decoding human thoughts. The film blends science fiction with social commentary, examining how technology shapes — and often distorts — modern human behaviour.
Set against the backdrop of digital terrorism, it delves into the darker side of cyberspace, touching on digital fraud, online gaming addiction, and the psychological toll of virtual dependence.
With cinematography handled by Pramod K Pillai and Yurii Kryvoshei, and music composed by director Manu Krishna himself, the makers promise a visual and auditory experience unlike anything seen before in Malayalam cinema.
