Court stays 250th movie of Suresh Gopi for copyright violation


Suresh Gopi's 250th movie is being directed by Mathews Thomas Plamoottil, who was the assistant director of Jinu Joseph. Jinu approached the court on seeing the similarity of the character name Kaduvakkunnel Kuruvachan.

Kochi: The works related to the 250th movie of Suresh Gopi produced by Tomichan Mulakuppadam has been stayed by the court. Jinu Abraham, the screen writer of the movie 'Kaduva' directed by Shaji Kailas, approached the Ernakulam district court against the movie alleging copyright violation. Prithviraj is the lead character in the Shaji Kailas movie.

The complainant produced the documents proving that the character name 'Kaduvakkunnel Kuruvachan' and all scenes in the script of the movie 'Kaduva' were registered as per Copyright Act. Following this, the court stayed the movie production. The shooting of the film and promotion through social media has been blocked by the court.
