Beijing: The sudden death of Chinese actor Yu Menglong, widely known as Alan Yu, has taken a darker turn following the emergence of a disturbing text message he allegedly sent shortly before his passing.

Yu, aged 37, reportedly fell from a building on 11 September while intoxicated, with authorities ruling the incident an accident. However, in a message to his mother, he wrote: “Every time I see the money they transfer, I vomit. That money isn’t earned by me, it’s dirty. I must say goodbye now, Mother. They may come and kill me anytime. I’m not joking, and I’m not hallucinating.”

The revelation has fuelled speculation online, with fans demanding CCTV footage, forensic and autopsy reports, and testimonies from witnesses. The controversy has intensified after reports that Yu’s mother went missing while travelling to Beijing for funeral arrangements. Entertainment bloggers claim she may be under pressure, raising further concerns of a cover-up.

Additional unverified claims, including audio recordings suggesting Yu’s body was tampered with to remove a USB drive, have also circulated online. Authorities, however, continue to maintain their stance that his death was accidental.

Yu Menglong, born on 15 June 1988 in Urumqi, Xinjiang, first gained recognition as a singer on programmes such as My Show and Happy Boys before transitioning into acting. He rose to fame through dramas like Go Princess Go and Eternal Love, building a strong fan following in China and abroad.
