
Chennai: Noted Telugu director and one of the child artists in the famous movie ‘My Dear Kuttichathan’ Surya Kiran (48) succumbed to jaundice at a private hospital here on Monday. His movie ‘Arasi’, directed after a long gap, was about to be released when he breathed his last.
Surya Kiran debuted as a child actor in the 1978 movie ‘Snehikkan Oru Pennu’. Apart from ‘My Dear Kuttichathan’, he acted in over 200 movies, including ‘Geethangal’, ‘Sathyabhama’, and ‘Padikkathavan’ as a child artist. Later, he changed his focus from acting to direction.
His directorial debut was the 2003-released ‘Sathyam’. Other movies he directed are ‘Dhana 51’, ‘Brahmasthram’, ‘Raju Bhai’ and ‘Chapter 6’. Surya Kiran was also a contestant in the Big Boss Season-4 in 2020.
Actor Kaveri was his former wife. Surya Kiran’s sister Sujitha is also a movie actor.
