“The story was narrated by the director as a single film, and Mohanlal had approved it within ten minutes,” recalls Shibu Baby John.

Producer and RSP leader Shibu Baby John has reiterated that the Mohanlal-Lijo Jose Pellissery film Malaikottai Vaaliban will not have a second part. In an interview with a YouTube channel, he stated that the film was always intended as a single installment.
“The story was narrated by the director as a single film, and Mohanlal approved it within ten minutes. Unfortunately, after shooting began, some unanticipated changes entered the story. Maybe due to certain obstacles and crises. I am not blaming anyone for that,” Shibu Baby John explained.
“At one stage, the idea of splitting the film into two parts was discussed. Both Mohanlal and I opposed it, believing that the film should be released as originally planned. Eventually, we decided against a two-part release. However, the ending of the film was adjusted leaving ‘scope’ for a second part,” he added.
Shibu Baby John also reflected on audience expectations: “It is a good film, not a bad one. But the expectations were extremely high. There was immense anticipation for a film uniting Lijo and Mohanlal. Expectations reached another level! There is no plan for a sequel.”
Earlier, in an interview with Mathrubhumi, he had also confirmed that there would be no second part, emphasising that the film was not a financial failure. “We are satisfied with the final product. When the project shifted from the original plan to the concept of a second part, the script saw minor changes, which caused some issues. ‘Vaaliban’ was not a flop; it simply did not reach the level of expectations. Considering its revenue, it cannot be termed a failure,” Shibu Baby John stated.
