
Thiruvananthapuram: A case has been registered against prominent Malayalam actor Jayasurya following a complaint lodged by an actress. The Thiruvananthapuram Cantonment Police have pressed sexual assault charges against the actor.
According to the complaint, the alleged incident occurred several years ago during the shoot of a film at the state secretariat building. The actress claims that Jayasurya attempted to grope her during this time.
Jayasurya has been booked under IPC sections 354, 354A, and 509. The secretariat and its premises fall under the jurisdiction of the Cantonment police.
After the actress filed her complaint, police visited her residence in Aluva on Tuesday to collect her statement. Subsequently, a case was registered against the actor.
In total, the actress has filed complaints for misbehaviour and assault against seven prominent figures in the Malayalam film industry.
