Kochi: A case has been filed against actor Edavela Babu following a complaint from an actress alleging inappropriate behaviour. The victim alleged that the actor misbehaved with her in connection with the membership in the AMMA (Association of Malayalam Movie Artists) organisation, which has led to a case being registered by the Ernakulam North Police.
The actress initially lodged complaint with the Special Investigation Team (SIT), submitting a total of seven separate complaints. One of these complaints was specifically against actor Edavela Babu. The SIT had forwarded these statements in seven envelopes to the relevant police stations, prompting the Ernakulam North Police to formally register a case against Babu.
According to the allegations, Edavela Babu misbehaved with the actress and suggested that she would need to make various compromises to obtain AMMA membership. The actress added that she has also disclosed further details to the investigation team that cannot be publicly shared.
In addition, a case has also been registered against Advocate V.S. Chandrasekharan, who is the president of Lawyers Congress State committee. Following the allegations, Chandrasekhar resigned from his position. He is accused of taking the actress to a location under false pretence and revealing her to numerous people. The Central Police Station has filed this case against him as the second accused.
Three separate police stations in Ernakulam district are handling the cases based on the seven complaints filed by the actress. The Ernakulam North Police are investigating the allegations against Edavela Babu, the Ernakulam Central Police are dealing with the case against Advocate V.S. Chandrasekharan, and the Maradu Police are examining a case involving MLA Mukesh. Investigations into all these cases are underway.
