Hyderabad: Mansoor Rasheed, the assistant director of the Mollywood film Bro Daddy, which features Prithviraj Sukumaran and Mohanlal, has been arrested in connection with a sexual assault case. Rasheed surrendered at the Kukatpally court in Hyderabad and has been remanded in custody for 14 days.
According to the complaint, the assault occurred during the filming of Bro Daddy in Hyderabad. The woman alleges that Rasheed drugged her by spiking her soft drink, sexually assaulted her, took nude photographs of her, and then extorted money.
Rasheed is currently detained at Kandi Jail in the Sangareddy district of Telangana. The Gachibowli Police have announced their intention to oppose his bail application, following the rejection of his anticipatory bail by both the Kukatpally Court and the Telangana High Court.
Rasheed, who has worked as an assistant director on several notable Mollywood films including Lucifer and Aravindante Athidhikal, was also involved in Prithviraj's upcoming movie L2: Empuraan. However, he was immediately removed from the project once Prithviraj became aware of the allegations.
Prithviraj confirmed earlier that he was unaware of Rasheed's misconduct until recently and took immediate action upon learning of the situation.
