A US court has dismissed most of the claims filed by Blake Lively against Justin Baldoni, narrowing the case ahead of a trial scheduled for May 18.

In a recent ruling, a judge dismissed 10 out of the 13 claims filed by actress Blake Lively against director and co-star Justin Baldoni. The dismissed claims reportedly included allegations of sexual harassment, defamation, conspiracy, and claims related to an alleged smear campaign.
Following the court’s decision, only three claims remain active and are expected to proceed to trial. These include breach of contract, retaliation, and aiding and abetting in retaliation.

Statements from Baldoni’s legal team
Representatives for Baldoni expressed satisfaction with the court’s ruling, stating that all sexual harassment claims and claims against individual defendants were dismissed. They described the decision as the result of a detailed review of evidence and legal arguments.
According to their statement, the defence team is now preparing to address the remaining claims during the upcoming trial.
Lively’s representatives have stated that the core of the case centres on alleged retaliation and actions taken following her complaints. They indicated that the remaining claims will be presented before a jury for evaluation.
They also clarified that the dismissed claims do not change their position on the underlying dispute, and that the case will now focus on the issues still under consideration.
Background of the dispute
The legal dispute stems from interactions during the filming of the movie It Ends With Us, in which both actors worked together. The case includes allegations made by Lively regarding workplace conduct and claims of retaliation, while Baldoni has denied the allegations and challenged them through legal filings.
The case remains active, with both parties expected to present their arguments on the remaining claims during the upcoming trial. The final outcome will depend on the court proceedings and the jury’s evaluation of the evidence presented.
