Actor Biju Kuttan, who made the transition from mimicry stages to Malayalam cinema, has been a staple in the industry for over two decades. Widely known for his comedic roles, Biju Kuttan became a household name through television shows before capturing attention on the big screen.
In a recent interview with Cue Studio, Biju Kuttan opened up about his experiences working with director Anwar Rasheed, who is famed for his successful films like 'Chotta Mumbai' and 'Rajamanikyam'. He shared how he landed significant roles alongside Malayalam megastars Mammootty and Mohanlal.
Talking about how he was introduced to Anwar Rasheed, Biju Kuttan recalled, “I met Benny P. Nayarambalam (script writer) for some personal reasons while he was writing the script of 'Chotta Mumbai' with Anwar Rasheed. Benny introduced him by saying that he is the director of 'Rajamanikyam'".
At the time, Biju Kuttan had just wrapped up shooting 'Pothan Vava' with Mammootty and was in the final stages of dubbing. He later received a call from Benny, who told him not to accept any new projects, as he had a role for him in 'Chotta Mumbai'. “I asked Benny, ‘Who is the lead actor?’ and he said, ‘Mohanlal.’ Then I asked, ‘What is my role?’ Benny replied, ‘You will be Mohanlal’s friend.’ It was a very happy moment for me because soon after my movie with Mammootty, I got to act with another megastar,” Biju Kuttan said, reflecting on the opportunity.
Biju Kuttan made his film debut in 'Pothan Vava,' and after receiving praise for his performance alongside Mammootty, he quickly became a sought-after actor in the industry. His role in 'Chotta Mumbai' alongside Mohanlal further cemented his position in Malayalam cinema. Over the years, Biju Kuttan has appeared in numerous successful films, with his most recent release being 'Ajayante Randam Moshanam.'
Beyond acting, Biju Kuttan has also gained popularity as a judge on comedy shows, where his wit and humour continue to captivate audiences.
