Actor Asif Ali addressed the controversy involving musician Ramesh Narayan on Wednesday. He urged netizens to refrain from creating a hate campaign on social media, emphasizing that his personal issues are his own and he wishes to keep them private.
"Speaking in support of me and posting on social media should not turn into a hate campaign against someone else. That is my request. I understand what he is going through. Please don’t turn this into a hate campaign. Thank you so much for all of your support. I love you all, and I’m grateful for the love I feel from you," he said.
The actor also added that he understands how much trouble Ramesh Narayan is going through. "I am happy with the support I am getting on social media. It was only a momentary feeling for him. No one like him needs to apologize. I don't think he did it on purpose," Asif said.
His remark came while attending a movie promotion event alongside Amala Paul at St. Albert's College in Ernakulam.
Actress Amala Paul also expressed her support for actor Asif Ali, praising Asif's response to the situation.
She emphasized that unexpected challenges arise in life, but how we handle them is what truly matters. Asif, who was on stage, showed his appreciation by hugging Amala.
The duo was at the college to promote their film Level Cross. Meanwhile, the students at the college also demonstrated their support for Asif by displaying the message "We are with you, Asif Ali" on the stage.
Acclaimed music director Ramesh Narayan is facing backlash after a video of him not accepting an award from Asif Ali went viral. Protests erupted in social media following allegations that Narayan insulted actor Asif Ali during the event.
The controversy sparked when Asif Ali was invited to present an award to Ramesh Narayan at the trailer launch of "Manorathangal”, a film based on MT Vasudevan Nair's series of nine stories.
Narayan did not accept the award from Asif Ali and instead asked director Jayaraj to come over. Narayan took the award from Asif Ali's hand and handed it over to Jayaraj, asking him to present the award back to him.
Social media users claim that Narayan did this to avoid interacting with Asif Ali after receiving the award. The incident, captured on video, quickly went viral on social media, sparking outrage among fans who demanded Narayan to apologise.
