After weeks of speculation, Alia Bhatt has officially confirmed that she is part of ‘Tumbbad 2’, the sequel to one of Indian cinema's most celebrated fantasy horror films.

The announcement, first confirmed in an exclusive by Bombay Times, brings one of Bollywood's biggest stars into the haunting folklore universe that continues to enjoy a devoted fan following years after its original release.

The sequel will see Alia sharing screen space with Sohum Shah and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, making for one of the most anticipated casting combinations in recent times.

Speaking to Bombay Times, Alia expressed her admiration for the original film and what drew her to its sequel.

"Tumbbad has stayed with me ever since I first watched it. Very few films create a world that feels this original and immersive, and even fewer continue to grow in people's imagination years after they've released. That's what makes this opportunity so exciting. To now become a part of that world is incredibly special. I'm looking forward to working with Sohum and Nawaz, two artists I've admired for a long time, and to exploring a character that belongs to a story as rich, mysterious and unforgettable as Tumbbad. I can't wait for audiences to experience what we're creating together."

The announcement signals an exciting new phase for the franchise. Since its release, ‘Tumbbad’ has been celebrated for its atmospheric storytelling, striking visuals and inventive take on Indian folklore. Its successful theatrical re-release only strengthened its cult status, proving that the film continues to resonate with audiences years later.

Welcoming Alia to the project, actor and producer Sohum Shah said he is eager to begin their first collaboration.

"Having Alia Bhatt come on board for Tumbbad 2 is truly delightful for all of us. She is undoubtedly one of the most talented actresses of this generation, and I am sure the audience will get to witness something unique with her in the film. We have all witnessed her incredible performances on screen right from her debut. This is my first collaboration with her, and I am genuinely looking forward to working together."
