Kochi: As Onam approaches, the film industry in Kerala is buzzing with anticipation for the festival's major releases. Despite recent controversies surrounding sex allegations and cases, producers and theatre owners remain hopeful that these issues will not exhaust the festive spirit or impact box office performance.
On September 12 and 13, four Malayalam films will be hitting theatres. The Onam slate includes Tovino Thomas's Ajayante Randam Moshanam, Antony Varghese's Konda, Asif Ali's Kishkindha Kaandam, and Omar Lulu's Bad Boyz, which stars Rahman.
Among the other notable releases is Vijay’s much-anticipated film, Goat, which will be released on September 5.
Sonny Thomas, vice-president of the Theatre Owners Association FEUOK, has expressed confidence that the recent controversies will not adversely affect the audience's choices.
"If the movies are good, people will watch them. Content is important for the audience," Thomas said.
