"Never before have women been so vocal in this state. Never before have so many men spoken up for a woman in this state," commented the ace director.

Following the verdict in the high-profile assault case involving a prominent actress, numerous individuals came forward to support the survivor. Many, including well-known celebrities, expressed their disappointment on social media that justice had not been fully served. Among those responding to the verdict is acclaimed filmmaker Anjali Menon, who shared her thoughts on Instagram, highlighting the unprecedented public backing for the survivor.
“After all that has happened, nothing should be surprising.
And yet every day, the shock is worse.
BUT SUCH A SWELL OF PUBLIC OUTRAGE IS STUNNING. NEVER BEFORE HAVE WOMEN BEEN SO VOCAL IN THIS STATE. NEVER BEFORE HAVE SO MANY MEN SPOKEN UP FOR A WOMAN IN THIS STATE. EACH OF THEM HAS TAKEN THE TIME AND EFFORT TO CARE ABOUT WHAT IS HAPPENING AND ARTICULATE THEIR INDIVIDUAL PERSPECTIVES. THEY ARE DEMANDING A CULTURE WHERE A SURVIVOR IS RESPECTED FOR HER JOURNEY AND THAT IS SO PRECIOUS. YOU HAVE MY RESPECT.
THESE ARE THE HERALDERS OF CHANGE.,” wrote Anjali.
The case, involving the assault of the actress and the circulation of degrading visual material, has reached its verdict eight years after the incident. The court found defendants one through six guilty, with sentencing scheduled for December 12. Actor Dileep, the eighth accused, was acquitted by Ernakulam Principal Sessions Judge Honey M Varghese, as the court found insufficient evidence to prove his involvement in the conspiracy.
Dileep had been implicated in the case under allegations of orchestrating a conspiracy linked to the assault. The trial, which began on 8 March 2018, was conducted as a secret proceeding with a female judge appointed at the request of the survivor.
Anjali Menon’s comments underline the significance of public advocacy in shaping a culture that respects survivors and amplifies their voices. The case continues to spark widespread debate and engagement across social and mainstream media, highlighting both legal outcomes and societal attitudes toward survivors of sexual assault.
