Filmmaker Aditya Dhar has shared an Instagram post that appears to indirectly respond to YouTuber Dhruv Rathee’s criticism of his film Dhurandhar

Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar has continued to draw strong box office numbers and audience attention since its theatrical release earlier this month. While the film has received widespread praise, a section of viewers and commentators have criticised it, with YouTuber Dhruv Rathee recently describing it as a “propaganda film”.
Following the criticism, Dhar reposted an Instagram story that strongly defended the film and its success. The post stated that Indian cinema is “rewriting history” through filmmakers who want to tell stories to the country’s audiences, and described Dhurandhar’s box office performance as “organic”.
The reposted caption also referred to earlier claims of “corporate bookings”, suggesting that those making such allegations had since fallen silent. Without naming anyone directly, the post mentioned that a “video maker” who criticised the film was met with widespread backlash. The story further described Dhurandhar as a “tsunami” at the box office, predicting continued success into 2026.
The post also credited the film’s cast and crew, naming Ranveer Singh, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Akshaye Khanna, Rakesh Bedi, Sara Arjun and others, while highlighting their collective contribution to the film’s success.
Dhurandhar has reportedly earned over ₹590 crore at the Indian box office and ₹900 in worlwide collection so far. The film was released in theatres on December 5, 2025, and features Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi in key roles.
The makers have confirmed that the second part of Dhurandhar is scheduled for a theatrical release on March 19, 2026.
