Actress Ansiba has expressed her views on the issue of naming those accused of sexual harassment, stating that it is acceptable to reveal names if there is strong evidence against them.

Ansiba emphasised that women face problems not only in the film industry but across all fields. Her response came in the wake of recent sexual harassment complaints lodged against members of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) and the release of the Hema Committee Report.

Speaking to mathrubhumi.com, she said, “I am speaking as Ansiba, not just as an AMMA executive member. Women face challenges everywhere, and a safe environment must be ensured. The report is shocking. What's wrong with naming the accused if there is strong evidence against them? Names should be published.”

She also addressed concerns about fear and intimidation, stating, “I am not afraid of anyone. Cinema is not anyone’s monopoly. If challenges arise, we will confront them. I reached here through my own efforts.”

Regarding AMMA’s delayed response to the Hema Committee Report, Ansiba noted, “It is true that the reaction of AMMA to the Hema Committee Report was late. I don't know whether there is a power group or not. But it's amazing to hear. Let the government figure it out anyway.”

She criticised the negative comments directed at women speaking out. “If you look at the bottom of the video of any woman who responds, you will find some disgusting comments. These are the pests in our society. It's not just about the film industry. They cannot be corrected... Filing a case is a long and costly process. We need a system that takes punitive action within 15 days to encourage more people to come forward and deter offenders,” she said.

Ansiba clarified that, while not all men are bad, those with clear evidence against them should be held accountable. She acknowledged the reluctance to report due to these systemic issues and the delay in justice. “Justice has been delayed for years. They gave the statements on the promise of anonymity. If evidence is available, strong action should be taken,” she concluded.
