Dinu Dennis, who made his acting debut in the 2006 Malayalam film Ennittum, has opened up about a particularly tense moment from his first film experience. In a recent promotional interview given to Thee Studio for Bazooka, the upcoming Mammootty film directed by his brother Dino Dennis, Dinu revisited the shooting of the popular romantic track “Orunoorasakal D”, which featured a love scene with co-star Kaniha.

“I was very young and this was my first movie. I didn’t have much idea about how a film set worked,” said Dinu. The song was shot at a house in Vyttila, Kochi, and on the first day of song filming, his father, celebrated screenwriter Kaloor Dennis, came to the location.

“The scene started with an intimate moment, and Dad was right there, sitting and watching. I was already nervous—it was my first film—and with him there, I was shaking. It felt awkward and embarrassing,” he recalled.

He noted that the presence of his father, a well-respected figure in the Malayalam film industry, made the experience even more daunting. Despite the discomfort, Dinu said the experience helped shape his understanding of the demands of acting.

While Ennittum didn’t fare well at the box office, the song "Orunoorasakal D" became a hit and remains one of Malayalam cinema’s well-loved romantic tracks.

Dinu Dennis is now making a return to films with Bazooka, which also stars Siddharth Bharathan, reuniting the two actors nearly two decades after Ennittum. Bazooka is an upcoming Indian Malayalam-language action thriller film written and directed by Deeno Dennis in his directorial debut releasing on 10th April. It is produced by Yoodlee Films and Theatre of Dreams, starring Mammootty and Gautham Vasudev Menon in the lead roles. Sharing his excitement about working with Mammootty, Dinu said, “I had a combination scene with Mammooka. I was so nervous and excited, I could hear my own heartbeat.”
