Mumbai: In a dramatic twist, veteran actor Shivaji Satam’s iconic character, ACP Pradyuman, is set to die in the upcoming episodes of the popular TV show CID. The character, who has been a central figure in the series since its inception, will reportedly lose his life in a blast scene, marking the end of ACP Pradyuman's journey on the show.
According to India Today, the storyline will see the villain Barbussa, played by Tigmanshu Dhulia, planting a bomb to take down the entire CID team. While other members of the team manage to survive, ACP Pradyuman will tragically perish in the blast.
However, it's important to note that CID has seen numerous characters "die" in the past, only to return later, which has left fans questioning whether ACP Pradyuman’s death will be permanent. As of now, there are no plans to bring the character back, say reports.
Shivaji Satam, who has played the role of ACP Pradyuman for more than two decades, previously spoke about the immense popularity of the show during its re-launch earlier this year. In an interview, Satam shared, "Most people, especially youngsters, always imagine having heroes in their lives. And police officers are people we look up to and have imbibed good values from. So, when you see their stories on screen, in such a larger-than-life scenario, it makes for a great watch. Also, these characters are absolutely human – they don't fly or jump, but are just good at their jobs."
Fans have long been attached to the CID team, particularly the core trio of ACP Pradyuman (Shivaji Satam), Daya (Dayanand Shetty), and Abhijeet (Aditya Srivastava). During the show’s off-air time, the actors revealed how they were regularly approached by fans, who shared how much they missed the show and watched the episodes repeatedly.
CID, which was re-launched earlier this year on Sony TV after a six-year hiatus, continues to enjoy a loyal fan base. The show is also available for streaming on Netflix and has been recreated in an animated version, CID Squad – Naye Yug Ka Naya CID, further extending its reach to younger audiences.
