New Delhi: Amid protests, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), student wing of the BJP, organised a special screening of the controversial movie ‘The Kerala Story’, directed by Sudipto Sen, at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in Delhi on Tuesday. Numerous students took part in the screening which was held amid Left protests at the convention centre auditorium in the campus.
The screening was attended by producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah and actor Adah Sharma. They also interacted with the students at the JNU.
'The Kerala Story' has become a topic for discussion around the numbers being exaggerated in the trailer of the film, as it claimed that 32,000 girls from the state went missing and later joined the terrorist group, ISIS.
Following severe criticism of the fictitious claim of 32,000 Kerala girls joining ISIS, the makers on Monday toned-down their claims and changed the trailer description stating that the film narrates the “true stories of three young girls from Kerala.
'The Kerala Story' stars Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Siddhi Idnani and Sonia Balani in the lead roles. Helmed by Sudipto Sen and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, the film is all set to hit the theatres on May 5, 2023.
