Mumbai: Actor Abhishek Bachchan has opened up about his mixed feelings toward the rapid growth of Artificial Intelligence (AI), saying the technology worries him, particularly when it comes to the future of creative industries.

Speaking at the ET NOW Global Business Summit 2026, the actor said that while AI can bring major changes and efficiency to filmmaking, it also raises serious questions about originality and the human touch in art.

Abhishek said AI has the potential to transform several areas of filmmaking, especially behind the scenes. According to him, technology could help reduce production time, lower costs, and improve areas like animation and visual effects.

However, he also pointed out that AI-generated content often feels incomplete from an artistic perspective.

“AI scares me. It should scare every actor. In the creative field, AI is going to revolutionise a lot of stuff. If not used responsibly, it can be detrimental for actors. Behind the scenes, it can be beneficial for animation, special effects and more. It is going to reduce a lot of working hours that we spend, and your budget may come down. From a creative perspective, I have seen multiple products that are AI-generated. They are wonderful, but there’s no soul. There’s an imperfection to humanity," said Abhishek.

Abhishek also noted that AI-driven disruption will not be limited to cinema alone. He said sectors such as medicine and law could also see major changes due to advancing technology.

“As far as the creative and films are concerned, I am going to be off the fence about whether it is going to be beneficial or not. I don’t have a complete grasp of the AI landscape, so I am not very comfortable with it. I learn and read a lot about it," he added.

His comments come at a time when AI-generated images and videos are becoming increasingly popular online. Recently, fans created AI-based animated versions of Abhishek Bachchan recreating some of his iconic roles from films like Guru, Bluffmaster, Dasvi, and Dhoom, showing how quickly the technology is being adopted.

On the work front, Abhishek will next appear in King, directed by Siddharth Anand, which features a star-studded cast including Shah Rukh Khan, Suhana Khan, Deepika Padukone, Anil Kapoor, Rani Mukerji, and others. The film is expected to release later this year.
