Director Aashiq Abu made serious allegations against the Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) Directors Union here on Friday following his resignation. 

Aashiq, in his resignation letter from the organization's primary membership, says FEFKA has maintained a "damning silence" on the Hema Committee report. The letter also contains serious allegations, including that FEFKA demanded a commission of Rs 10 lakh from him for partially settling the dispute with the producer. 

"The organisation and the leadership failed in fulfilling its social responsibility,” Aashiq wrote in a letter addressed to FEFKA Directors Union members.

Aashiq says that when he complained to the organization after not receiving the money from the producer, FEFKA asked for a 20 per cent commission for receiving only half the amount, and there was an argument with Sibi Malayil over this. It is also alleged in the letter that although the cheque given by him was returned by Sibi Malayil, a 20 per cent 'service charge' was charged to two other people who complained along with him.

“I became a member of FEFKA in 2009 and was subsequently elected to its executive committee. Despite several attempts on my part, the federation did not intervene when I encountered monetary issues with a producer. Not only did they fail to intervene initially, but they also began demanding a 20 per cent commission from half the amount I later received through their intervention. I found this highly unjust,” he said.

Earlier, Aashiq Abu had come forward questioning the FEFKA position in the Hema Committee report. Aashiq said that the secretary of the organization, B Unnikrishnan, should come forward without hiding and clarify his position. The resignation comes in the context of no further action.
