Junaid Khan, who made a remarkable debut in 2024 with Netflix's 'Maharaj', recently shared a personal chapter of his life involving his struggle with dyslexia. In a candid conversation on a YouTube channel, Junaid revealed how his parents, Aamir Khan and Reena Dutta, only fully understood his condition after hearing the script of 'Taare Zameen Par'.

When asked about his parents' approach to academics during his school years, Junaid shared that they were never overly strict about his studies.

"Neither of my parents were particular about my results. I was diagnosed with dyslexia very early on, so they were mindful of that, especially when it came to schooling," he said.

Taare Zameen Par and its real-life connection

Released in 2007, 'Taare Zameen Par' was more than just a cinematic milestone in Aamir Khan’s career. The film brought attention to dyslexia, a learning disorder that many parents weren’t aware of at the time—including Junaid’s own parents.

The actor revealed that his diagnosis was closely linked to the film. When asked if his condition inspired Aamir to create 'Taare Zameen Par', Junaid responded,

"Actually, I think it was a little bit the other way around. When they heard the script of 'Taare Zameen Par', they were like, 'We have seen this in our lives.' It was at that point they took me to a specialist, and I was diagnosed with dyslexia."

Junaid was only six or seven years old when he was officially diagnosed.

"I received a lot of help very early on, so it didn’t affect me as much growing up. In that sense, I think I was lucky,"  he said.

After making waves with 'Maharaj', Junaid is now gearing up for his next big-screen appearance in 'Loveyapa', where he stars opposite Khushi Kapoor. He’s also set to feature alongside Sai Pallavi in 'Ek Din', expected to release later this year.
