Hollywood: Movie fans, it’s time to mark your calendars! The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has officially announced the dates for the 99th and 100th Academy Awards ceremonies, making these the final Oscars shows to air on ABC before the ceremony moves to YouTube in 2029.
The 99th Oscars will take place on Sunday, March 14, 2027, with nominations revealed earlier on Thursday, January 21, 2027. Following that, the 100th Oscars are scheduled for Sunday, March 5, 2028—both set to be held at the iconic Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, the longtime home of the Oscars.

The Academy also released an important timeline for filmmakers hoping to compete:
- Eligibility Period Begins: Thursday, January 1, 2026
- Eligibility Period Ends: Thursday, December 31, 2026
- Oscars Shortlists Announcement: Tuesday, December 15, 2026
- Nominations Announcement: Thursday, January 21, 2027
- 99th Oscars Ceremony: Sunday, March 14, 2027
- 100th Oscars Ceremony: Sunday, March 5, 2028
All times for the 99th and 100th editions will remain at 7 p.m. Eastern / 4 p.m. Pacific, though organisers note dates are subject to change.
The 2029 Oscars will mark a significant shift, moving to The Peacock Theater, ending the ceremony’s decades-long run at the Dolby Theatre.
This move also signals the Oscars leaving network television in the US, with the ceremony being broadcast worldwide via YouTube, a major change in how audiences will experience Hollywood’s biggest night.
