Singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya’s son, Jay, recently took to social media to express his displeasure over the viral mash-up of Dua Lipa’s ‘Levitating’ and the iconic Bollywood song 'Wo Ladki Jo Sabse Alag Hai’ from the movie Baadshah. Created by DJ Ruchir, the mash-up was performed by Dua Lipa during her Mumbai concert at the MMRDA Grounds, as part of the Zomato Feeding India Concert.
While the mash-up quickly became a hit, Jay felt that one crucial detail was overlooked — his father’s contribution to the classic song. On his Instagram story, Jay voiced his disappointment, stating that the iconic voice of Abhijeet Bhattacharya was not acknowledged in the mash-up.
“The problem is that no one talks about it,” Jay wrote, highlighting that not a single news outlet or Instagram page credited Abhijeet for singing the original track.
He added, “What happened to Woh Ladki Jo Sabse Alag Hai — Abhijeet? Unfortunately, we live in a country where not one news outlet or Instagram page has mentioned the voice and the artists of this song."
Jay further pointed out that the mash-up made no mention of Abhijeet’s contribution, instead focusing on the actors.
“Why has it always been about actors in this country?” he questioned.
He went on to suggest that when Dua Lipa first heard the track, she likely didn’t acknowledge the singer behind it.
“I'm sure when @dualipa heard this song she must have heard it and not seen it, and not appreciated the man that has sung this song and yes, it is not SRK." He added.
“It’s called Woh Ladki Jo Sabse Alag Hai — Abhijeet, wherever you search it."
In one of the posts, he also mentioned the song is hit and popular because of legends like "Abhijeet and Anu Malik!”
