Seoul/London: In a move that has electrified fans across the globe, BLACKPINK’s Jisoo and British pop star Zayn Malik have confirmed a surprise collaboration. The pair will release a digital single titled ‘Eyes Closed’, marking their first-ever project together and uniting two of the world’s biggest music fandoms.

The announcement was made on October 8 via Jisoo’s Instagram, where she shared a monochrome teaser image featuring both artists dressed in sleek black attire. The post was simply captioned, “JISOO X ZAYN Digital Single ‘EYES CLOSED’”.  In the image, Jisoo stands in the foreground, her gaze locked onto the camera with quiet intensity. Behind her, Zayn exudes a subtle yet magnetic presence, adding intrigue and tension to the scene. 

A series of cryptic teaser posts over the weekend, including phrases like “two voices, one orbit” and “a duet is near,” had already sparked intense speculation among fans. The reveal of Zayn as the mystery collaborator quickly sent social media into a frenzy.

This marks Jisoo’s first musical release since her solo EP Amortage in February, which included tracks such as ‘Earthquake’, ‘Your Love’, and ‘Hugs & Kisses’. She is currently on a short hiatus from BLACKPINK’s Deadline world tour, which resumes on October 18 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

For Zayn Malik, ‘Eyes Closed’ signals another major step in his post–One Direction career. Known for hits like ‘Pillowtalk’ and ‘Let Me’, the singer continues to expand his artistic reach with cross-genre collaborations.

The collaboration also follows Zayn’s appearance at BLACKPINK’s New York concert on July 27, where he attended with his daughter Khai. He later posted a photo from the audience, writing, “@BLACKPINKOFFICIAL THANK YOU ME & KHAI LOVED IT.”

With the global anticipation now in full swing, ‘Eyes Closed’ is expected to be one of the most talked-about music releases of the year, bringing together the world of K-pop and British pop in a unique and powerful pairing.
