New York: A woman who had accused hip-hop stars Sean "Diddy" Combs and Jay-Z of sexually assaulting her when she was 13 has decided to drop her civil lawsuit, according to court records.

The lawsuit, initially filed in December, claimed that Jay-Z (whose real name is Shawn Carter) and Combs raped the girl at a party following the MTV Video Music Awards in September 2000. The accuser alleged that both men took turns assaulting her while another celebrity looked on and did nothing to intervene.

Court records show that the accuser filed a notice with the US District Court for the Southern District of New York stating that she was voluntarily dismissing the case “with prejudice.” This means the lawsuit cannot be refiled in the future. It remains unclear whether the case was dropped following a settlement with the stars, and the identity of the accuser has not been revealed.

Jay-Z responds to lawsuit dismissal

Jay-Z, 55, has expressed relief at the case’s closure, calling the lawsuit "frivolous, fictitious and appalling." In a statement, he said, "This civil suit was without merit and never going anywhere. The fictional tale they created was laughable, if not for the seriousness of the claims." He also spoke about the personal toll the lawsuit had taken on him and his family. "I would not wish this experience on anyone. The trauma that my wife, my children, loved ones and I have endured can never be dismissed," he added.

In a separate legal matter, Sean Combs, also 55, has been charged with sex trafficking and racketeering. Federal prosecutors allege that he sexually abused women and forced them into drug-fueled sex parties through threats and violence. Combs has denied all charges, and his criminal trial is scheduled to begin on May 5.
