For the second straight year, Kendrick Lamar reigns supreme over the Grammy nominations.

The hip-hop powerhouse tops the 68th Annual Grammy Awards list with nine nominations, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year for his soulful collaboration “Luther” with SZA, and Album of the Year for his chart-topping LP “GNX.”

Lamar’s streak continues after last year’s domination, when he swept five categories — including the coveted Record and Song of the Year for his fiery hit “Not Like Us.”

This year’s recognition pushes his career total to an astounding 66 nominations and 22 wins so far.

Close behind him are Lady Gaga and producers Cirkut and Jack Antonoff, with seven nods each. Rising multitalent Leon Thomas, mixing engineer Serban Ghenea, pop darling Sabrina Carpenter, and global superstar Bad Bunny follow with six nominations apiece.

A Diverse, Star-Studded Line-Up

The Recording Academy’s continued push for diversity among its nearly 15,000 voting members is reflected in the wide range of artists and genres represented this year. From reggaeton and R&B to pop, rock, and hip-hop, the nominations span the full musical spectrum.

Lady Gaga continues her genre-defying run with nominations for “Abracadabra” (Record and Song of the Year) and “Mayhem” (Album of the Year). Her companion jazz record, “Harlequin” also picked up a nod for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album.

Bad Bunny cements his crossover legacy with his first-ever Song of the Year nomination for “DTMF” and Best Global Music Performance for “EoO.” His album “DeBí Tirar Más Fotos” marks just the second all-Spanish record ever nominated for Album of the Year, after 2023’s “Un Verano Sin Ti.”

Other Album of the Year contenders include Justin Bieber’s “Swag”, Sabrina Carpenter’s “Man’s Best Friend”, Tyler, The Creator’s “Chromakopia”, and Clipse, Pusha T & Malice’s “Let God Sort Em Out.”

The Rise of Streaming Stars

In a reflection of how music and internet culture continue to merge, streamer and musician Plaqueboymax earned his first Grammy nod for Best Dance/Electronic Recording with “Victory Lap” (featuring Fred again.. & Skepta).

Meanwhile, Justin Bieber, who frequently interacts with fans through Twitch and YouTube streams, earned a major Album of the Year nomination.

The inclusion of creators like Plaqueboymax underscores the Grammys’ growing recognition of how digital-first artists are redefining modern music success.
