Kristin Cabot, the woman caught on Coldplay’s kiss cam in a moment that sent the internet into a frenzy, has finally told her side of the story — and says the fallout cost her everything.
In an interview with The New York Times, Cabot, former Chief People Officer at tech firm Astronomer, admitted that “a couple of High Noons” clouded her judgment the night she was seen dancing intimately with then-CEO Andy Byron during Coldplay’s Boston concert in July.
“I made a bad decision and had a couple of High Noons and danced and acted inappropriately with my boss,” Cabot said. “I took accountability, and I gave up my career for that.”
The moment unfolded during Coldplay’s now-famous “Jumbotron Song,” when frontman Chris Martin spotted the pair on the big screen. As Cabot covered her face and Byron ducked out of frame, Martin quipped, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.” Within hours, the clip went viral.
Astronomer soon launched an internal investigation, placing Byron on leave before he resigned. Cabot, who was head of HR at the time, acknowledged the optics were disastrous. “I’m the head of HR, and he’s the C.E.O. It’s so cliché and so bad,” she said.
Cabot revealed she and her husband were already separated at the time and that both she and Byron had bonded over personal struggles. That connection, she admitted, “strengthened” their relationship, though a source later claimed there was “no affair.”
What followed, Cabot said, was far worse than professional consequences. She described being doxxed, receiving hundreds of calls daily, and facing death threats online. “My kids were afraid that I was going to die,” she said.
Despite the backlash, Cabot insists she owns her mistake — but not the vitriol. “You can really screw up,” she said. “But you don’t have to be threatened to be killed for it.”
Months later, she says she and her children are trying to move on from the moment that turned a concert night into a life-altering scandal.
