BTS member V, also known as Kim Taehyung, has urged fans to revive the Purple Ribbon Project — a fan-led safety initiative — following a recent chaotic scene at an airport. The appeal was made during a Weverse livestream where the singer addressed the growing issue of airport mobbing.

The 'Slow Dancing' artist shared that while he appreciates fans' love, the overwhelming crowd made it impossible for him to stop for photos or interact with reporters. He called the airport a public space that needs to remain safe and calm for everyone, including artists and other travellers.

The Purple Ribbon Project, initiated in 2018 by BTS’ fanbase ARMY, involved forming a human chain using purple ribbons to help BTS members move safely through airports. The initiative received praise from BTS, with V himself once posing with a purple ribbon in a Dispatch photoshoot.

Over time, the project faded as fans chose to avoid airports altogether. However, recent events have reignited the need for its revival. After V’s comments, fans have begun organising efforts to bring back the project across social media, while also urging others to stay home and avoid chaotic scenes at public venues.

The Purple Ribbon Project symbolises a respectful way to support idols without compromising their safety or causing disruption. Fans and artists alike hope that such thoughtful initiatives can make public spaces safer for everyone.
