Flávia Bomfim is a visual artist, illustrator, editor and curator. She has been organizing the Festival of Illustration and Literature Expanded (FILEXPANDIDO) in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, since 2013 - promoting discussion on illustrated literature and visual culture. He has created many book covers and illustrated for international newspapers and magazines. She has a special interest in the picturebooks a medium in which she researches, illustrates and writes. She has organized international illustration exhibitions, founded the publishing house Movimento Contínuo and creates and collaborates in the FLAMA collective creation project. Embroidery is one of her main techniques of experimentation and research. In 2021 she was awarded the “Green Island” prize by the Nami Concours (South Korea) for her illustrations for the book "The Sailor's goodbye" (Pallas 2022) and in 2023 she was awarded a Special Mention by the Book Bologna Children ́s book fair. In 2024 she is doing an artistic residency with the Indian publisher Tara Books.
