Journalist, film critic and documentary director. O K Johnny’s debut movie ‘The Trapped’ was honoured with the President’s award for best anthropological movie. His second movie ‘Silent Screams: A Village Chronicle’ portraying social issues won President’s award in 1997 and state award for best documentary film.
He also directed the biographical documentary ‘Portrait of CK Janu’ and travel documentary series ‘Ayalkkazhchakal’. He was a member of Kerala State Film Awards Committee and National Film Awards jury panel.
He won Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award in 2015 for his travelogue ‘Bhutan Dinangal’. His major works include Nishabda Nilavilikal, Oru Grama Puravritham, Kaveriyodoppam Ente Yathrakal, Wayanad Rekhakal and Cinemayude Varthamanam.
