He was appointed as the MD of KSRTC in 2006 and Kerala Transport Commissioner in 2010. He has served as ADGP of Intelligence wing and became the state police chief in 2015. Later, he was replaced by Loknath Behera in 2016.
He approached the Supreme Court against this move and was reinstated in 2017 following a court verdict. He retired in 2017 June. He was awarded the Presidents Medal for Distinguished service in 2009.
