Thiruvananthapuram: Mathrubhumi International Festival of Letters (MBIFL) ended here on Sunday evening with governor P Sathasivam being the chief guest at the event. Governor P Sathasivam praised the media and said that the festival gives global exposure to Malayalam literature. He lauded Mathrubhumi and appreciated the Kannur master session headed by the Jayarajan trio which pulled a huge crowd. He also pointed out that the literary fest gives opportunity for people to meet writers around the world and encourages budding writers.

Devaswom minister Kadakampally Surendran said that he was happy to see a huge gathering in the literary fest which gives a ray of hope to the state. He encouraged the young generation to learn, read and acquire knowledge. Mathrubhumi Managing Director MP Veerendrakumar MP gave the presidential address. He said that he was happy that many youngsters took part in it. He also expressed happiness to have governor Sathasivam as the chief guest in the ceremony.

Mathrubhumi Joint Managing Director Shreyams Kumar, Mathrubhumi managing editor P V Chandran, writer N S Madhavan, festival art director TK Rajeev Kumar, festival director Sabin Iqbal and chief of Mathrubhumi News Unni Balakrishnan took part in the ceremony.

MBIFL was held from January 31 to February 4 at Kanakakkunnu Palace in Thiruvananthapuram. The third edition of the event will be held from January 30 to February 2 at the same venue in 2020.
